LARRY A LESLEY
DESCRIPTION
I redesigned The Detroit Grand Prix environmental graphics as well as a light
rebrand to create a fresh, engaging, and community-centric visual experience. This initiative focuses on transforming the Grand Prix’s visual identity to attract a broader demographic, increase attendance, and foster stronger community engagement. The target audience includes motorsports enthusiasts,
local residents, and potential sponsors, all seeking a thrilling racing event with a vibrant atmosphere.
The project aims to overhaul the Detroit Grand Prix’s environmental graphics, emphasizing unique visual language and a sense of community impact. This entails creating immersive visual experiences through welcome signage at the main entrance, event branding with banners and flags throughout the venue, clear directional signs for parking, and event entrances, and parking signs. Vendor areas, including food stalls and merchandise booths, will also feature eye-catching graphics, while restroom signs will ensure easy navigation.
RATIONALE
I had a desire to find a crossroad between architecture and graphic design. By tasking myself with Rebranding the Detroit Grand Prix and Redesigning the signage I saw an opportunity to explore these disciplines in a practical and and impactful way.
